Hi, I'm Brandon. 👋

I'm a recent corporate dropout, trying to live the semi-retired life and raising two young kids.

I write a monthly-ish newsletter for my friends and family, sharing what's going on in my life, what I'm interested in, what I'm building and learning, and random life hacks or ideas I'm exploring.

A little about me

I grew up in a tiny town in Minnesota where we hung out in cornfields and parking lots for fun. I moved to the "big city" to attend the University of Minnesota, and then in 2013 I moved to Atlanta.

I spent the first couple years of my career at PwC, and then nearly a decade at Cox Enterprises, most recently as a Senior Director focused on innovation, automation, AI, product development, and data. Cox was an incredible place to work. I genuinely had a ton of fun. Everything I know about pretty much anything was learned there. I also learned a lot about how large organizations work and -- just as importantly -- where they struggle.

I have always wanted to do my own thing, and I increasingly grew disillusioned with the corporate world. I found that I was much more interested in building things, especially with AI in the picture. I genuinely believe AI will fundamentally change how businesses are built and disrupted, and I want to be at least a tiny part of that.

I also found that I was increasingly unwilling to compromise time with my wife and two young kids, especially with the return to in-person work and spending countless hours every day on the meetings that my position required.

These days, I am semi-retired. Our family's journey to financial independence has given our family a lot of flexibility, and I am intentionally using this chapter to focus on family and my health, while also tinkering and building. And I hope to help others do the same as well.

The newsletter is where I share what I am learning as I try to design a meaningful life, and tinker and experiment -- sometimes successfully, sometimes not -- but always with the goal of designing a more intentional way to work and live.
